| Scuba Diving is the main activity on Tioman Island. If you like to take a days break from diving however or if you are coming with non-diving friends, then there are plenty of other activities for you available:
Snorkeling:
The housereefs in Salang Bay and ABC also offer some fantastic snorkeling and all you need to do is rent some snorkeling gear and jump in the water.
There are many local snorkeling operators in each village on Tioman Island. Prices depend on the number of people and the snorkelling site. Usually it costs less than MYR 100.00 per person for a half day trip. They are offering different snorkelling tours such as:
- 2 hours snorkeling boat trip to nearby snorkeling sites
- Half day snorkeling trips to Coral Island and other destinations
Round the island trip:
Many local operators offer round the island trips. During those trips, they bring you by speedboat to the other side of Tioman to the tranquilly village of Juara. From there you go all the way south direction Mukut to visit the waterfall before having lunch in Paya Village. They then stop you for some snorkeling at Renggis Island and at the Tioman Marine Park before returning to base. Costs depend on the number of passengers and are in the range of MYR 100.00 per person.
Sea Kayaking:
Sea kayaking is a fantastic adventure. If you’re fit enough, you can kayak all the way to famous Monkey Bay or Turtle Beach. Costs are in the range of MYR 15.00 per hour
Rainforest Trekking:
Tioman is densely covered in some of the oldest rainforest in the world. If you’ve never hiked in a rainforest then this is an absolute must. There are several short and long trails available:
- Salang Bay to Monkey Bay (approx. 1 hour per way)
- Salang Bay to Turtle Bay (approx. 1 ½ hours per way)
- ABC to Turtle Bay (approx. 1 ½ hour per way)
- ABC to Monkey Bay (approx. 2 hours per way)
- Tekek to Juara (approx. 3 hours per way)
Currently there are no guides to bring you into deeper parts of our tropical jungle.
Beach Volleyball:
If it thirsts you for some more activity after a fantastic day of diving, then why not join the local boys and girls for a round of beach volleyball? There are 2 nets available in Salang Bay and games are on every day after 5pm.
Rock Climbing:
Rock climbing is available in the south of Tioman Island. Unfortunately it can be quite costly just to get there by speedboat.
Golf:
Berjaya Tioman Golf and Spa Resort offers you a special 18 hole golf course. The first nine holes are
along the shoreline including a 207m signature par 3 over an ocean bay. The second nine holes are
along the rainforest where you can expect monkeys and monitor lizards on the fairways and greens.
The course is short and on most holes you can leave the driver in the bag. Don’t underestimate it
though, since you can expect tight fairways and small greens. Buggies and trolleys as well as some old
golf sets can be rented. Better bring you own clubs along though. |
