Take a Scuba Lesson with the PADI Open Water Diver Course
If you’ve always wanted to learn how to scuba dive, discover new adventures or simply see the wondrous world beneath the waves, this is where it all starts.
The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular scuba course, and has introduced millions of people to the adventurous diving lifestyle.
The fun part about this course is....just about all of it because learning to dive is incredible. You breathe underwater for the first time (something you’ll never forget) and learn what you need to know to become a certified diver. During the course, you’ll make at least 5
The PADI Open Water Course takes between 3 to 4 days to complete and we start courses every other day with small group sizes (average of 2 to 4 students).
The course includes 5 confined water dives where you learn the basic scuba diving skills, 4 open water dives where you demonstrate that you can perform those skills yourself, watching 5 videos, self study of the student manual and some homework which we call knowledge reviews. There are also 4 quizzes (multiple-choice) to be completed to test your knowledge, so we are able to give you additional information and prepare you for the final exam (50 questions, multiple-choice).
Most of the dives are conducted of the beach/pool, since you have to learn how to dive first. On the last day of the course however we will take you out by boat for your final two open water dives. We will visit a dive location in the vicinity of Coral Island, famous for its marine life and beauty. On this day we will provide you with lunch and refreshments and you will dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters.
The duration of the training day will depend on your preference. We normally start at 09.30am, watch some videos, do some theory, go twice into the water for training and are finished between 4pm and 6pm with a good hour lunch break in between. On your own leisure time you can complete the self study (“homework”) in the manual.
Since PADI requires every student to have his/her personal student manual and dive table, we are offering the whole package including PADI Open Water course, PADI Open Water Student Manual, dive equipment rental and certification.
Only prerequisites to start the course are that you are able to swim and float and that you can say NO to all the medical questions in the PADI Medical Form.
If you are restricted by time, PADI has implemented a new scheme, where you can complete your theory study online. Click on the banner above to find all the necessary information about the PADI eLearning programs.
If you complete the PADI eLearning online before your arrival, your course duration on Tioman Island can be reduced to 3 full days with plenty of spare time for you to relax and enjoy some of the other activities Tioman has to offer.
